Michigan repeals drug law

Michigan lawmakers accidently repealed penalties for drug abuse. There was a bill that took effect on November made it illegal to have or use drugs like Ecstasy and marijuana. The law stated up to one year in jail and up to $2,000 in fines. But, in December lawmakers engrossed in a busy lame-duck session that they forgot to include those penalties in the law. Gov. Jennifer Granholm signed that bill last week, for penalties for marijuana and ecstasy were repealed.

Incomeing senator Rick Jones will fix this problem once he starts in January.
