Obama's Health Care Law

The new republicans in the white house want to repeal Obama's Health Care Law. The republicans want to get rid of that law because they believe that will be a good reason to be able to create jobs. Obama has been trying to help families who are low income by giving them health care but it is not for everyone. This is why the republicans want to repeal his law. They want healthcare to be for everyone.

Conference with Obama's Staff

President Obama's staff is changing. David Plouffe is now leaving the house and he is being replaced by David Axelrod. When Obama was having a conference with his staff members and while they were in the conference it was known that it was when the shooting in Arizona happened. In the meeting was the secretary of National Security Advisor, Homeland Security Secretary Jannet Napolitano, and FBI Director Robert Mueller. They were discussing what had happened in Arizona.

Obama's Moment of silence

After the tragedy of Arizona where Jared Lee killed and injured about 14 people in Arizona, President Obama and his wife the first lady Michelle Obama went outside the White House to give a moment of silence to those who died. They joined other staff members outside the white house at 11am. According to the white house they say that Obama will keep on investigating the incident.

Obama signs for Sept. 11

President Obama said Sunday that he was honored to sign a bill that will provide aid to for survivors of September 11 attack and those who get ill while working in the ruins at the World Trade Center. "We will never forget the selfless courage demonstrated by the firefighters, police officers and first responders who risked their lives to save others," Obama stated. Some republicans did not agree with this idea because they were thinking of where they were going to get the money from. The $4.2 billion measure will be paid from fees that some foreign companies that get U.S government contracts. This bill will compensate those who risk their lives for our country.

There was no ceremony for signing the bill; it was signed privately in Hawaii where he stayed with his family.

Senator proposes permanent US bases in Afghanistan

The leading GOP lawmakers on the U.S military policy want American officials to consider permanent Military Bases in Afghanistan. The South Carolina senator Lindsay Graham says that having some U.S Air Bases in Afghanistan will benefit the region and would give Afghanistan security forces an edge against the Taliban. The senator also states that she would like to see and enduring relationship with Afghanistan to ensure that it never falls back in to the hands of terrorists.

Obama has stated that he plans to begin a plan to settle down troops in Afghanistan next year and hand over security to Afghan forces in 2014. Obama has talked about an enduring presence in Afghanistan but not exactly what that would entail.
